Join us for a live taping and listening-room concert for The Jazz Purveyor Presents: Lawrence Fields Supersonic Trio | Halloween Special! Lawrence Fields – Piano & Keyboards Curtis McPhatter Jr. – Drums Reuben Cainer – Electric Bass “I love playing music with Lawrence Fields! … He’s always inspired – and that’s where the magic is...” — Joe Lovano, Saxophonist "★★★★ ... an expectant future for the rising star." — Downbeat Magazine A NIGHT TO DIE FOR…. Lawrence Fields Supersonic Trio is here to kill; a high energy electric project from New York City, showcasing hard hits from the groove lab for a rare and one-time dangerous performance in Austin. From convention to invention, risking all in challenge of the known. Lawrence Fields, born in St. Louis living in NYC, is haunted by his past — leaving computer programming to explore the mystery unknown at the global forefront of jazz pianists. A regular nominee in Downbeat Magazine’s Critics Poll, his scary approach to interplay has been described as “an exquisite balance of tradition and innovation”. The Wall Street Journal was horrified, noting Fields’ “elegant, probing” solos, while The New York Times cried he was “integral to a plunging, changeable style” with Joe Lovano and Dave Douglas' Sound Prints. A pianist to be feared, credits also include Grammy-nominated Chief Adjuah/Christian Scott group, Nicholas Payton, Branford and Delfeayo Marsalis, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Jeff "Tain" Watts, others. His acoustic debut album, “To the Surface”, was released in 2024 to critical acclaim, and has been creeped by magazines like Stereogum, Germany’s Rondo and Jazzthetik, Japan’s Jazz Life. The Jazz Purveyor is a sinister artist agency and event producer, looking to thrill and terrify you with diverse nightmare programming. Dread our upcoming events.
